She will fight for those who cannot fight for themselves.
Born Princess Diana of Themyscira, Diana was the daughter of Hippolyta, the queen of the Amazons. The Amazons are a race of immortal warrior women charged by the gods to defend humanity from the scourge of War. They lived in peace on the island of Themyscira until an American spy named Steve Trevor crash-landed on the island in the 1940s with news of an apocalyptic war being fought outside their borders. Diana was moved by Steve Trevor’s plight and petitioned to act as an ambassador of peace. She went forth armed with the Lasso of Truth, a supernatural golden rope that forces anyone bound with it to speak the truth, and armored bracelets that she can use to deflect bullets.
In 1941, psychologist William Moulton Martson created a superhero that blended legendary strength with a compassionate heart. She debuted in All Star Comics issue 8 and quickly became one of the most important superheroes of the age. A television show starring Lynda Carter introduced her to a bigger audience in the 1970s and she was recently the star of the biggest DC superhero film starring Gal Godot as Wonder Woman. Diana of Themyscira is a hero to millions and we have some of her greatest treasures here on Toon.Style.
