It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia
There’s a bar in Philadelphia where the five worst people in the city congregate. Their grandiose self-image is at odds with their idiocy, and they get into insane cartoony mischief as they explore societal issues through their dangerously skewed lens.
It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia is the story of the owners of Paddy’s Pub, a fictitious dive bar in Philly. Referred to as “the gang,” they get into insane adventures as their plans are derailed by infighting and general stupidity. The show works as a sort of spiteful live-action cartoon that has captivated a cult following even as it remains a sort of scrappy underdog of the comedy world.
The show works because of the strong personalities and performances of each individual member of the gang. From older rich creepy goblin Frank to the manic and possibly psychopathic siblings Dennis and Sweet Dee to the sexually repressed wannabe bad ass Mac to the illiterate trash panda Charlie, the gang’s ability to screw up anything is one of their most endearing features. They’re definitely losers, but they’re a lot of fun to watch.
